What The Bike Bandit Says About Charouleau Gap Mountain Bike Trails

“If you love narrow Tucson mountain bike trails with a combo of fun jeep trails, this is worth putting on your list. Any rider should have at least intermediate skills and you will likely need to get off of your bike from time to time. The views of the Catalinas are splendid. You will have a rigorous three mile climb to the Gap. The jeep trails portion of this ride is technical, so be prepared.”

What The Locals Say About Charouleau Gap Mountain Bike Trails

“If you have got some demand for downhill, this is pretty top notch. Lots of drops and heavy speed to be had while skating the edge of recklessness. Going up this is pure torture.”

Nicholas Cheever – Tucson, Arizona

TUCSON, Arizona – Mountain Biking – Usually double-tracked by local Off-Roading enthusiasts, there’s no telling how often this trail is used. The ride is hard technically and physically especially the downhill portion near the top which can be an accident and injury prone area. There are loose rocks everywhere and very steep which makes it one heck of a climb. This ride has two elevation profiles. The first is around 6 miles up, to the top of Charouleau Gap (the second cattle guard) while the other one brings you to a “Y” in the trail about 3 miles down the other side. Riders can also access it through the Golder Ranch – Middlegate area.

Directions to Charouleau Gap Mountain Bike Trails – Tucson, Arizona

Directions: It should be easy to search for the area especially for those who have tried the Golder Ranch area. Don’t go way up the hill if you’re heading for the parking on Golder Ranch Road, instead, turn North (left) on Lago Del Oro. Follow Lago Del Oro until you reach the parking area on the East (right) side of the road for Charouleau Gap. You should see Miraval Spa on the right. It is about 3 miles along Lago Del Oro and just before you get to Saddlebrook.
